Peter Hall – What Ever Happened To CETA? – PODCAST
Here’s a trivia question for you. What does Chile. Columbia and Peru have in common other than being South American countries. The all have free trade agreements with Canada. Canada has fourteen of them around the globe and that represents more than half a trillion dollars of imports and exports globally. And those are just the free trade agreements. Here’s another fun fact. Canada is the only G7 country that has a trade agreement with every other G7 country. But today we focus on CETA. The Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement. You remember, that agreement we signed with the Economic Union countries. So how has CETA been fairing in the wake of our USMCA trade agreement, the exit of Great Britain from the EU and COVID-19. To help us with this discussion is Peter Hall. Peter is the Vice President and Chief Economist for Export Development Canada. With over 30 years of experience in economic analysis and forecasting, Peter is responsible for overseeing EDC’s economic analysis, country risk assessment and corporate research groups.
